There was announced that Republican John Kasich affirmed last days that if he will be elected as governor, he wouldn’t rule out a gambling expansion in Ohio.

In a speech, before to address to around 300 at the Lucas County Republican Party Lincoln Day dinner, John Kasich affirmed that the bugdet situation of the state could make difficult the beginning of phasing out the state income tax. He is trying to eliminate the tax in every campaign speech.

He also added that he will be a governor, he would like to examine a legalized gambling expansion if it makes a good sense for the state’s view.

The Westerville congressman also added that he is not ideologically opposed to gambling. He has not made up his mind on it, but he is not going to say they are not going to do it and pound his fist on the table. They will have to see it, and that does not mean they are going to do it. They will need to take a really hard look at it.

The timetable has been set for talks between US Trade Representative Ron Kirk and European Union Trade Commissioner Catherine Ashton. The negotation will be taking place to try to bring the US into compliance with EU trade agreements.

The Remote Gambling Association wants the main focus to be on freeing any foreign companies from prosecution.

The Remote Gambling Association Chief Executive Clive Hawkswood said: “The aim is to secure what the European Commission deems as a reliable undertaking that EU gambling interests won’t be pursued by the DoJ for activities which should have been under protection of WTO agreements,”.

Representative Barney Frank has been arguing against the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act for several years. He recently has proposed legislation that would overturn the UIGEA for legalized and regulated Internet gambling in the US.

The US had been investigated by the EU, and the report from that investigation showed that the US was in violation of EU trade agreements. The EU has given the US a grace period to correct the violations before bringing their case to the World Trade Organization.
