Northampton County Council Will Determine The County That Will Decide The Impact On Casino Municipialites

Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem was scheduled opening this morning but with the opening 15 before Northampton County Council has revoked decided invoking opening a debate on how to spend millions of dollars from gambling down the casino.

At the Council meeting, Councilmen Ron Angle and J. Michael Dowd, introduced a bill to establish the county that will decide the impact that taxes will have to be paid by the casino the municipialites.
In March, Dowd voted with seven other members of the Council to create a new authority member without direct representation of municipalities, which borders Bethlehem.Angle had the only “no” vote.

Under state law, municipalities closest to the casino are to receive most of the estimated 2.8 million dollars in casino taxes that impact the control. Any leftover money would go to more remote municipalities that can demonstrate that they are also affected by the casino.

Angle of Upper Mount Bethel Township with support from the Slate Belt accused members of the Council that will not change if the makeup will then sue.

Council has not yet appointed anyone to the body, which is officially known as Northampton County Gaming Revenue Authority and economic redevelopment.

Counselor Lamont McClure of Bethlehem Township, who drafted the bill creating the authority, said that 11 members of the authority would be a number too large to be eficiente.Dar Cusick came up with a new option.This new option would include three Representatives from more far-flung municipalCities, instead of five proposed by Dowd and angle.
