Expectation – I won’t get too technical with this one. Basically, it means the amount of money you can expect to win or lose over a period of time.

Face Cards – Real simple here. Face cards are the Jack, Queen and King. They are all worth 10 point in Blackjack. There’s no real difference in these cards unless you’re playing a side game like Royal Match.

First Base – This is the seat that gets the cards first. The dealer deals clockwise, so first base is the first seat on the dealer’s left.

Flat Betting – When you flat bet, you’re just betting the same amount on every hand. This really isn’t idea. Unless you’re just playing for a little fun and free drinks, you want to alter your bets some now and then.

Heads Up – This happens usually in online play. It’s when you’re the only one at the table. You’re playing with the dealer only. In real casinos, some players like this and they’ll move around looking for empty tables. When someone else sits down, they get up and find another empty table. You’ll see some big-time players request an empty table. If they are playing enough, the casino will rope off a table for them.

High Roller – We just talked about one in our Heads Up description. A high roller is someone who bets a lot. The real high rollers will walk into a casino with millions to wager if they so choose. They are also called whales.

Hit – Take a hit to get another card for your hand. It’s also called a draw.

Hole Card – This is the magical card that the dealer gets that you can’t see-unless you’re playing a double face up game of Blackjack.

Hot Deck – It’s just the opposite of a cold deck. A hot deck is in your favor and hopefully you’re betting big.

House Edge – We talked about this in our Edge description. All casino games have a house edge. The casino always has the advantage over you. Some games are better than others. For instance, Blackjack has a much lower house edge than Roulette.

Blackjack Strategy

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Perhaps the most important thing to bear in mind is that what matters is not just your card value but also the dealer’s shown card.  Winning is all about assessing your hand against the dealer’s potential hand. Because the dealer has to hit on sixteen or stand on seventeen you can use this to plan out your strategy. The higher the dealer’s shown card the stronger his hand is and the more trouble your are in.

Here is a quick list of possible cards showing in the dealer’s hand and what they mean for you:

Ace: Big trouble. This round is going to be the dealer’s unless you have spectacular luck.

10 or face card: Bad news for you. The dealer is in a strong position.

9 : Things aren’t looking good. The dealer has got the upper hand here.

7 or 8: Loosen up a bit, you can beat the dealer on this round if you play things right.

4 to 6: The dealer has got that sinking feeling. This hand looks like it will be yours.

2 to 3: Be careful. It could go either way, so play cautious.

Always draw a card if your total is less than 11 because there is no danger of you busting. As a general rule you should always stand if your hand is 17 or higher. If you are on 13 to 16 only draw a card if the dealer is showing 7 or better.
If you hand totals 12 you should take a hit unless the dealer is showing 4 to 6. In this case the dealer may very well bust so you should sit tight and wait for that to happen.

Beginning Blackjack

Monday, April 19th, 2010

A basic overview of the game can be taught in a mere fifteen minutes, however, the bulk of mastering it like a seasoned casino pro does come from devoting a strenuous effort to the discipline and strategy of this classic French card game standby. For beginning players though, it takes little more than controlling simple math principals like basic addition, combined with a cunning observation of human behavior and a touch of strategy to learn the card game of blackjack.

Because of the varying levels of chance and yet still the opportunity to employ strategic tactics, blackjack is the only casino game at which one stands a chance to truly outsmart and beat the house. Gaining a sharp rise in American player popularity in the 1960’s, blackjack, once called “21” based on the maximum card count total before a hand busts, is now one of the most sought-after card games in casinos worldwide. Another reason this game has sustained and increased in its number of players, is because of the increasing accessibility of online blackjack games. This card game is an “every man’s” game and due to its quick learning time and the advent of Internet gambling sites, there has been a modern revitalization of the game in both real-time and virtual environments.

There is a level of independence in blackjack, and perhaps that solitary sense that a player is facing off individually against the dealer might be part of the appeal. As each player tries to beat the dealer one-on-one, other players are simultaneously doing the same. There is both a social and non-social element to the game play.

Simply learning the ropes of the game is enough to get one started, however, devoting a few hours to attaining the basic strategies of card prediction and card counting is the key to having a higher payout and a better grasp of the more advanced techniques. A short time of practicing these strategic maneuvers will propel a basic player from a run-of-the-mill neighborhood poker night player to a player who would have a great edge in a public casino. If a player knows the more popular and assured strategies like card counting, which is mentally tracking the high and low cards of the deck, blackjack is much simpler to sweep than other card games. Although the house will always have a statistical edge, the component of player choice makes the game sway positively toward the player in a way that no other card game can.

As with most games, experience is another essential component in mastering blackjack play. The casino circuit is the best way to collect the practice needed to excel, because the environment is tense and the play is quick, which can teach a player to acclimate to the speedy wit necessary to win big. However, the online blackjack options and home play are also beneficial and probably more practical for most new players.

The time invested in learning the game and blackjack strategy produces a feeling of exercising the mind while at the same time enabling a player to take home a little quick pay dirt .

Betting at Sic Bo

Friday, March 5th, 2010

It is a simple game that I and many others enjoy playing.  This time, I would like to discuss the different possible bets at Sic Bo.  This may be useful if you would like to play the game but you don’t know how to bet.  After all, let’s face it, betting is an important feature of any casino game.  How can you put your money on a game, when you don’t know what the different bets are?

Do remember that Sic Bo is a fun game of chance that depends upon the roll of three dice. Some people love reading up all about different strategies for a particular game.  When a game is basically based on luck, I find it difficult to even think about strategies.  For me, this is the case with Sic Bo.  Strategies then become based on betting issues.  However, especially when playing for money, I do believe that it important to know what is involved in the game and what one’s betting options are.

Bet to Your Heart’s Content

Below you will find the main bets that are available at this game.

First of all, there is a high bet in the game of Sic Bo.  For this eventuality the total of the three dice will be a number between 11 and 17.

For a low bet, the total of the three dice will be between the numbers 4 and 10.

There is an odd bet and an even bet, which are rather self explanatory.

It should be noted that all the above bets do not include triples.

An additional possible bet consists of a specific triple for which the particular number is determined in advance.  A bet may also be placed on any triple.
Further, there are also bets on specific doubles for which the number is predicted in advance.

One may also place bets on specific dice combinations.  This bet involves predicting two out of the three dice.

These are the main bets available at the Sic Bo game.  Some experts recommend keeping to the high and low bets – especially for beginners. High and low bets usually offer the odds of 1:1.

Do bear in mind that the various odds and the table layout vary at different casinos.  It is recommended to read detailed information regarding the game and its odds in addition to the relevant terms and conditions, before playing.

The Mathematician

a. These guys have mastered the odds of certain combinations that comes out already. For example, they know that when you hold a pocket pair, you can hit the set with only one in eight and a half chances. Those pocket cards also give you odds of having one in three chance of completing a ‘by the river’ flopped flush draw.

b. Mathematicians also able to compute the number of “outs” because they know it is important. Outs are the number of cards that will improve your hand. They compute it by multiplying it by two and adding one and that’s the percentage of them hitting the pot.

c. Knowing outs will be useless unless it is translated into rational and calculated betting. When you figure out that you have a 20% chance of hitting, you then figure out your chances of winning or losing. You divide the size of the pot at the river by the amount you have to put in. I.E. the current pot and the amount of bets that will be added on in the future. If you have calculated that the bet to you will be 50 and have 20% chance of hitting and the pot at the river will be higher than 250, try to call for it. If not, fold. Confusing right?

d. Review these concepts if you really want to be an expert.

2. Discipline

a. Always try to find a table where you have an advantage. Try finding tables where there are more amateurs or “fish”. Fish only want to win by being lucky. Poker players want to win by skill and by hoping that his opponents don’t get lucky.

b. Every different game, table or opponent set needs the poker player to have different disciplines or styles. He or she cannot always rely on one style. For instance, a player may play the better hands when there are not much pre-flop actions. The player can make a loose call with other speculative hands when lots of opponents are limping in.

c. A disciplined limit player has excellent pre-flop skills. However, the disciplined no-limit player is quite different. This player doesn’t care much with paying lots of blinds but instead this kind of player would not want to be trapped. The difference is that limit players avoid squandering their stack bit by bit while no-limit players avoids losing his whole stack in just one hand. A disciplined no-limit player can play a lot of hands. Even if he or she has cards such as 5 spades and 3 diamonds he or she will still be loose preflop. But expert no-limit players know how to quit as well when their hands are really bad.

d. The disciplined player knows when to quit even when the pot is really juicy.

e. A disciplined player learns from his mistakes and admits that they will still make them later on. Disciplined players will just keep on learning because nobody is a perfect poker player.

The Fundamentals of Betting Exchanges

Monday, January 11th, 2010

My e-book will let you know about various strategies mostly followed by the punters, thus placing a bet against the winning team instead of placing a bet that assists them in winning. As far as the exchange offers are concerned, it usually offers the punters with enormous benefits. One such benefit is that it tends to offer the punter with huge price money thus allowing him to place much enhanced amount as compared to the offered price for the bet.

The effective betting exchanges allow the punters to go ahead and easily make significant alterations in their betting positions, especially if the betting exchanges are associated with the long tenure events. Besides all this, there are certain times when winning betting exchange players make an effective use of exchanges. If you are betting exchanges on the part of a bookmaker there is high probability of either your account getting closed or alternatively you are allowed to place limited stakes. In contrast, if you prefer to opt for an online betting exchange, then all these limitations are not at all visible. In fact, an online betting exchange allows you to place as much of stakes as you can. Doesn’t it sound great?

Another vital aspect of betting exchanges is that they allow a punter to go ahead and place a price for the bet instead of backing it. For instance, if the Leeds to win the bet is 3/1, but however you feel that it can be enhanced to some extent, thus depreciating the chances of their (opposing team’s) winning. In that case, the most optimal Leeds is 7/2.

It has been observed that a lot of new players find it rather complicated as to how to make an exchange. So, don’t forget that if you are sure that higher exchange price increases your prospect of winning, then you can simply adjust your offered price while backing.

Find That Right Online Casino

Friday, November 27th, 2009

How do you know which one is the best online casino to pick? Here are some tips to pick the best online casino out there.

1. Find out which software the company is using to run their online casinos. Some major software providers are Microgaming, Cryptologic, Net Entertainment, Boss Media, Playtech, and Rtg. A company that uses tried and tested software means that they are trying to make a name for themselves. Software created by major companies is not cheap, if they use expensive software; it only means they are probably serious.

2. A great casino should also offer great customer service support. They should be available where ever, when ever. They should also be able to be contacted in every way possible, 24/7. They should also be friendly, helpful and quick to respond to player’s problems.

3. Try to ask around for the best online casinos. Why believe only what you read in their sites? Try to find out what other users think about their site.

4. Find a casino that fits your computer and internet connection. If you have a slow connection, you may have a long time to download the games. If your computer components are also kind of slow, it might affect the images and game play. The main reason people play online is to experience a better gaming experience. If your computer and the casino are not compatible, why play online?

5. Always look at the terms and conditions. There will be online casinos that offer bonus play, but only after some conditions are met.

6. Always check out the different games offered. The more games that you like, the better. If you love playing slot machines, try looking for a casino that offers great slot machines.

7. Always consider how you’ll be able to pay for those games. Are there easy ways to pay for them through the bank? Always pay in the most efficient way .

8. Consider how you can be paid. Some casinos pay within 24 hours, some takes long weeks and could even reach months. If you win a big amount, some will pay you in staggered payment. I.e. if you win $15,000 you’ll be paid for 3 weeks. This is because some casinos limit their pay to $5,000 per week. So check their holding and process terms.

9. Do more research about the casino. There are online casinos that are linked with land casinos. This gives them less chance to run off with your money (unless the casino can be folded up and flown away).

10. Follow your guts, all of the things mentioned above may be correct. But in the end, your gut will tell what is right and what isn’t.

Things About Online Bingo

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

Not only is it lots of fun, players can also meet people from all over the world. But, as with any other game, there are ten things players should know about online bingo.

1. Online bingo is completely secure. All information is kept safe and confidential at all times. Most online bingo sites use secure e-wallets like NETeller. Using an e-wallet ensures that players can deposit and withdraw their money in a safe and secure environment.

2. Although online bingo is completely secure and it is safe to deposit, players should read the terms and conditions of a bingo site before depositing there. Players should make sure they understand, for example, the site’s policy regarding withdrawals and winnings.

3. Playing online bingo is less expensive than playing the land-based version. There are no travel expenses to or from the hall and no dining out at restaurants or at the venue. Online bingo cards are mostly cheaper than the cards at a land based venue. Online players can play from the comfort of their own homes. Another plus is that players can play whenever they want and for as long as they want.

4. Every online bingo game has a winner. Unlike land based version where a game sometimes ends without a winner, there is always a winner in online bingo.

5. The online bingo game cannot be controlled, predicted or influenced. Online bingo is a game of chance where all players have the same chance to win Most sites are completely honest and fair.

6. Playing online bingo can keep players younger for longer. Studies have shown that playing online bingo improves mental alertness. According to these studies the minds of players, both old and young, are faster and more accurate than those of people who do not play ! Another plus is that playing counts as a form of exercise because winning and the excitement of the game accelerates the heart rate.

7. Before players deposit at an online bingo site, they should try it out. Most sites offer sign-up bonuses or free money to new players. This means new players can try out the site and see if they like the atmosphere. Players should make sure they feel comfortable at the site they choose. After all, playing online bingo is all about having fun!

8. When playing online bingo, players should only play with money they can afford to lose. This means players should only use money they can use for entertainment, and not money that should be used elsewhere.

9. Some bingo sites offer side games. Playing these side games is a great opportunity for players to earn more money. At some online bingo sites players can even win the jackpots by playing side games like slots!

10. When signing up at an online bingo site, players have to choose a nickname or username. Players should be very careful when deciding on a name because they will not be able to change their names once it’s chosen.

When playing poker online

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

SELECT YOUR STAKE. No decision here if your smart. You must have 50 to 100 times the Big Blind. Any less and your chances of making money nose dive. More will only improve your table ‘cred’and help to intimidate weaker players.

SELECT A TABLE. Spend at least 15 minutes watching the play at each table. Review your notes if recognized players are present. Check out at least three tables before you start. Then select the loosest table. To win at Texas Hold’em Poker you must play tight in loose games and play in loose games only. If all the tables are tight, run. Go back to Step 1.

SELECT A POSITION AT THE TABLE. Watch for the tightest player at the table. Pick a spot to that players left. We have dedicated an entire chapter later on to table position strategy.

TAKE NOTES ON PLAYERS. Record playing styles. Do they raise before the flop? Do they fold before the flop? What’s the size of their stake? Do they react quickly or slowly when their turn
What kind of cards did they play on? Everyone should take player notes at casinos like Party Poker where they offer the feature. Don~t know how to take notes? Just right~click on the avatar (picture) of the target player and click ~Player Notes~. That feature is there for a very good reason -use it.

TURN OFF CHAT. It’s distracting and rarely valuable. If you want to chat, use MSN -but never while you’re playing for money.

TURN OFF TV’s, MUSIC, OTHER DISTRACTIONS. Now is not the time to catch the score on your favorite game or consume a bucket of chicken. If anyone’s going to be distracted, it should be your opponents. Let them miss cues, watch their stack disappear and wonder what happened.

Why youngs start to become gamblers

Monday, October 12th, 2009

A way of having fun. This is brought about by the common peer pressure and curiosity is another factor. There is nothing wrong in using gambling or games related to it in order to be entertained or thrilled but this would not be a good step to take.

We have to remind ourselves that no matter how big or small an addiction is, it would always start with a simple step and that is- trying to gamble. For young people, especially for students, this is a distraction. It would definitely be a problem as soon as a youth engages in it and gets addicted in the long run.

For parents this would be a huge hurdle in trying to bring up your children to the best individuals you want them to be.

Young as they are, they are exposed to factors that would definitely lead them to the pitfalls of gambling.  There would be very negative effects that could lead to worse results for your son or daughter. As a guardian, you have to make it a point to be there and not only give simple words of advice to your child but be there to open his or her eyes on what are the pros and cons of being into gambling.

It may lead to your child’s low grades and worst to dropping out subjects. Of course, this is not good it may lead to further problems that would not only worsen the case of your youngster as an individual but as a member of the polity.

Another role you have is to educate your very self of what are the possibilities after your child is into it. You would have to know what to do and where to seek help if really needed.

Addiction to gambling would be a very bad influence on your youth’s life. It may be that tough for you as a parent, but with your sincerity to guide your child to straighten his young and long life ahead, it would surely away from impossible to find solutions.
